My name is Danny Bedwell, and I humbly submit myself for your consideration for the U.S. House of Representatives.
I live in Columbus, Mississippi, with my wife and daughter. Sheri and I have been married for twenty-eight years and our daughter Caroline is twelve. I am a Christian, a retired Navy diver, a strict constitutionalist, and an OathKeeper. I am self-employed in the timber industry and the State Chairman for the Libertarian Party of Mississippi. I was one of three delegates from Mississippi to the 2009 Continental Congress sponsored by the We The People Foundation.
I have chosen to run for Congress because I truly fear for our Republic. I can no longer sit idly by as our federal government systematically invalidates our Constitution. I owe it to my posterity, and all subsequent generations, to do something about this national crisis. I do not think I would be able to look future generations in the eye, knowing that I sat quietly on the sidelines as their liberty was stripped from them by my generation. Someday, my daughter will ask me, “and what did you do daddy, as our Constitutional protections were stripped from us, and we were placed into the servitude of the federal government?” I want to be able to look her in the eye, and with my head up, claim that I did everything possible to prevent it. With your help and support, we can do it.
So let me be clear, I am running for office so that I may fight to force the federal government back within the confines of the Constitution. I want to go to Washington, so that I may fight those that have systematically stripped us of our constitutional rights. I want to go to Washington so that I may repeal unconstitutional legislation. I want to go to Washington to halt the out of control spending. I want to go to Washington so that I may fight for fiscal responsibility. In short, I want to go to Washington DC so that I may regulate the federal government.
My opponents in this race want to regulate the economy, the industries, and the people, in one form or another. They only differ in HOW they want to regulate them. They just don’t get it, do they? The problems facing this country are not because we haven’t been regulated enough, but rather because we have too much regulation. The economy, our industries, and the people have been regulated to death. The government needs to leave them alone.
Send me to Washington, and I’ll regulate Washington, not the people.
